PIQUADRO IS

Carbon neutral

"Our goal is to create a better future for the next generations. And we're building it every day. Today for tomorrow. We measure our impact, then act to reduce and offset it, supporting certified emission removal projects: such as the initiative promoting renewable energy in Uttar Pradesh, India, and the Rio Anapu Pacaja deforestation prevention project. In this way, we've achieved carbon neutrality in our activities as the Piquadro Group (Scope 1 and 2) for 23/24"

Environment

UTTAR PRADESH
The project aims to utilize surplus bagasse from a sugar mill in Uttar Pradesh, India, to generate steam and electricity for green energy transmission and distribution. By replacing grid power, which largely relies on fossil fuels, the project reduces dependency on non-renewable sources and lowers CO2 emissions.

RIO ANAPU PACAJA
A project in the Brazilian Amazon covering 148,000 hectares in Portel combats deforestation by supporting local families in adopting sustainable agroforestry. Since 2012, the initiative has expanded monitoring efforts, training locals to patrol and engage squatters, offering alternative income sources to deter illegal logging and promote nature conservation. The regional forests are rich in valuable timber species.

Biodiversity

UTTAR PRADESH
The project helps decrease reliance on carbon-intensive energy resources, ensures efficient waste management, and conserves natural resources. By doing so, it protects the surrounding ecosystem and promotes biodiversity.

RIO ANAPU PACAJA
Forests are not only among the planet's most important carbon reservoirs. They also are home to an enormous diversity of species and are the livelihood for all people. However, global forest areas have declined sharply in recent decades due to increasing settlement, agricultural use, illegal logging and mining. Forest protection projects ensure that forests are preserved in the long term and that the protection of forests is given a higher value than their deforestation.

Community

UTTAR PRADESH
The project will create jobs in rural areas, offering stable employment opportunities to local sugarcane farmers who typically face unpredictable income. It will also provide higher-value jobs at the cogeneration plant. Additionally, the initiative supports sustainable development at local, national, and global levels, aligning with India’s goal of promoting clean energy.

RIO ANAPU PACAJA
To prevent illegal logging, the project supports the so-called "Ribeirinhos", who live along the rivers and small streams. They are encouraged to use sustainable agroforestry techniques and receive land use rights for their contribution to nature conservation. Since 2012, the project has been scaling up its monitoring activities by training local villagers as monitoring staff. The patrol teams approach squatters and invite them to work for the project. They offer alternative sources of income through joining the social project activities or the patrol teams in monitoring the project area.

WE HAVE SET THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Together with offsetting the carbon footprint tied to its corporate activities, the Piquadro Group has made another important commitment
to environmental sustainability by offsetting the CO2 emissions tied to the production of the best-selling products of the three brands.
Piquadro is therefore one of the first companies in the world to have made this commitment, and not only in its sector.

The CO2 emissions generated by the green products of the Corner, Corno alle Scale, Urban and PQ-Light lines have been calculated based on the GHG protocol. They were then offset based on the production with an extra 15% to cover any calculation errors through Verra VCS standard-certified carbon credits that support the Rio Anapu Pacaja deforestation prevention project. This operation will be repeated every year.
